The natural way of getting what you desire
By Kenneth Ho
I'm writing this article because I thought it is important for you. I remembered during one of the classes that I've conducted, there was a conversation that went like this......
I asked one of the participants, "If everything is possible for you, what do you want to achieve?"
"I want to do my own business!" The participant replied. "Why do you want to do your own business?" I asked. "So that I can make more money."
"Then why don't you start doing your own business now?" I asked. "Errrr, because I don't have enough money. If I have the money, I'll do my own business."
"If you have all the money you need to support your business, what business do you want to do?" I asked. "I don't know. I haven't thought about it."
"If you don't know, how are you going to start your business?" "When I have money, I'll think about it. There are so many businesses I can do."
The participant is a common Have-Do-Be person. Most people fall under this category. For a Have-Do-Be person, they always tell people that if they have this or if they have that, they will do this and do that before being the person whom they want to be.
Like the example above, the participant wanted to be a businessman yet he did not think like a businessman. He was waiting to have money before starting to do business. To him, 'have' comes first, followed by 'do' and finally 'be'. Unfortunately, reality doesn't work that way!
If he continues to operate in the Have-Do-Be mode, he will never become whom he wants to be. When I attended my first wealth creation seminar, the speaker told us that if you want to be a millionaire, you have to dress like a millionaire, walk like a millionaire and imagine yourself being a millionaire. He advised us to go to a five star hotel, imagine ourselves staying in that hotel, and get the feeling of being wealthy and successful. At that time, I was thinking "what is all that nonsense!"
When I started to understand the power of the subconscious mind, I started to appreciate what he meant.
This is what's happening......
When you imagine yourself being a millionaire and start acting as if you are a millionaire, you are actually 'deceiving' your subconscious mind that you are a millionaire. Since your subconscious can't differentiate between what is real or vividly imagined, it believes that you are really a millionaire.
Your subconscious mind has no choice but to eventually bring that reality to you!
1) Within yourself, you start to develop a millionaire's mindset. Once you have a millionaire's mindset, you will start to do what a millionaire will do. For example, you will start to read a lot. All self-made millionaires read frequently and widely. You will start to network with people, develop a pleasant personality, and develop a good business sense and the ability to evaluate good money making opportunities and many other qualities of a self-made millionaire.
2) At the same time, your subconscious mind starts to attract people, events and million dollar opportunities that will move you towards your goal. You may receive a call from a friend with a business opportunity; or you may meet a person who is willing to sponsor your business venture. Many “lucky” things may happen. But you understand that it's not luck, don't you?
3) Finally, by acting on good opportunities, you start to make money, save money, invest money and make more money. Eventually, you have accumulated enough to call yourself a millionaire.
The entire process of being a millionaire, or achieving any goal, is:
Be the person whom you want to be first, and the rest will follow. So far we have discussed about two types of people.
The first type is the Have-Do-Be type. These people need to have everything ready before they are willing to do something. But they will never have everything ready because mentally they are not ready.
The second type is the Be-Do-Have type. These types of people work together with the law of the universe and they will achieve great success.
There is a third type. This type is the Do-Have-Be type. These people are motivated to do something, but their motivation is usually in terms of the material benefits, which is what they want to have/own. They do anything and everything to pursue their material needs, or their 'have', without really thinking of what they really want from life, which is their being.
They thought that by having big cars and big house, they will be happy. But after they obtain these material things, they realize that they are still not happy. So they go on to obtain more things, thinking that by having more, they will be more. They may achieve some success because of the law of sowing and reaping. But they often have to rely on their egos to get things done. When their egos fail, they fail.
And because they do not understand that they have the power to bring luck to them, they work extremely hard to achieve the result they want. When things do not go according to their plan, they usually panic and become angry because they have nothing to rely on except for their egos.
So which category of people do you belong to? And which category do you want to become?
